Hello Goodbye

Hello Goodbye is a gathering place that is meant for people of all ages.

The design for Hello Goodbye is heavily focused on the existence of dichotomies that exist in harmony. Nights and days, bars and cafes,
Hellos and Goodbyes.

There are two parts to Hello Goodbye. A café in the morning and a barcade at night. Thus, I chose to take different elements of games you would find in a bar: arcades and billiards, and incorporate them into the designs of the posters for the establishment.

The font I chose to use for the cafe is Hammer Bold. It is quite retro and fits the red, white, blue, yellow color scheme well. The café uses imagery from the physical aspects of bar entertainment, such as joysticks, tokens, and billiard balls.

While controversial, I thought it would be interesting to use a different font for the posters for the barcade. I chose to use the Vectrex font as the visuals from the game heavily inspired the design of the posters. I wanted instead to connect the café and barcade through the layout of the words
“Hello” and “Goodbye”.

The animation is created frame by frame by making bitmaps of different graphics and overlaying them on each other to create a pixelated look. The same elements I used here are also present in some of the other posters.
